Bull Shark Diving in Playa del Carmen (November to April)
For Advanced Open Water Divers and above, we offer an exclusive dive with bull sharks; an unforgettable experience. At 24 meters (80 feet) deep, you’re able to come face-to-face with one of the most dangerous inhabitants of the ocean – the bull shark. Certain species can grow upwards of three meters (10 feet) and have one of the strongest jaws among fellow sharks.
From November to April, the reef just off the coast of Playa Del Carmen becomes a unique place in the world, where female bull sharks bare their offspring. In calm, shallow, warm water, pregnant sharks lose their aggressiveness and prepare for childbirth. This circumstance temporarily transforms dangerous predators into peaceful, calm creatures – which guarantees no risk for divers – and gives a unique opportunity to safely observe one of the most dangerous predators on our planet, while in their natural habitat, and at a distance of only a few meters. The bull shark season lasts from November to April.
